Choosing the materials which make up the frame of your self-build home is one of the early decisions you will need to make. We have provided two wall panels options which offer fantastic thermal efficiency.
In summary our standard specification includes all of the structural materials required to erect the timber frame superstructure and can be adapted to incorporate items such as plasterboard, external doors, windows, internal doors, skirtings, architraves, staircase, and so on. However, our standard specification is entirely flexible. Materials can be omitted, included or amended to suit your specific new build project. We are more than happy to provide a timber frame shell, designed to suit a certain specification but with you sourcing all of the materials yourself or we can supply and fit various elements required to complete your project.
Benjamin Allen specialise in the production of high quality open panel timber frame systems. All the timber used in the manufacture of our frames is sourced from well managed forests with full traceability and has FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody. For our standard wall panel this traditional system of timber frame manufacture comprises a prefabricated panel made up of 47x147mm timber studs at 600mm centres with OSB sheathing and a reflective breather membrane. This is secured with stainless steel staples on polypropylene tapes which indicate stud positions. Each panel contains rigid and fibre glass insulation providing excellent thermal performance.
The Standard Wall Panel offers a U-Value of 0.23 W/m2K. To meet the growing demand to improve thermal efficiency throughout the buildings fabric we have now developed a new wall panel which will achieve a thermal performance of 0.10 W/m2K.
Each project we manage is purely bespoke and ‘one-off’, therefore the panel design and specification can be adapted to suit the requirements of your individual project. Your timber frame package is always tailored to suit your needs.
