Substructure works are progressing well on a new build Benjamin Allen Home in Surrey. After setting out, the machinery moved in and we began work on the foundations, laying meter deep trenches, which were inspected and approved by the local building inspector.
Once the blockwork below DPC was laid a beam and block floor was installed. Beam and block floors are becoming more and more popular as they use pre-stressed concrete beams suspended above ground which eliminates the risk to ground floors of soil shrinkage or heave. On top of this our standard 140mm coursing blocks were laid around the perimeter walls ready to receive the structural timber frame.
Next month will see the erection of the structural timber frame.
